Our Graduate Apprentice Takes on the Ayrshire Apprenticeship Challenge
At Joy by Corrine Smith, we believe creativity can change more than just what we wear, it can make a meaningful difference in our community. This year, we’re delighted to share that one of our talented team members, Katie, is taking part in the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce & Industry and DYW Ayrshire Apprenticeship Challenge, and she has chosen a cause close to all our hearts: Ayrshire Cancer Support.
💎Designing for a Difference
Instead of a typical fundraising event, Katie is putting her creative talent to work. The project will involve:
💛 Designing and handcrafting unique jewellery pieces
🛍️ Selling them in Ayrshire Cancer Support’s shop in Ayr
👗 Showcasing them at a Ladies Day fundraising event at Lochgreen House Hotel
Every piece will be individually designed and made by Katie using repurposed end-of-line charms and components, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Ayrshire Cancer Support to help provide vital practical and emotional support for people affected by cancer across Ayrshire.
💪 Empowering Apprentices to Lead
This challenge gives Katie full ownership of the project. She is not just crafting beautiful jewellery, she is also:

It’s an opportunity to learn leadership, creativity and community spirit skills beyond the everyday studio role.
